Ecdysone biosynthesis and function in plants

Quinoa produces ecdysone and is studied at Jozwiak Lab

Ecdysone is a hormone that is commonly known for its role in insect molting. However, it is also found in plants, including spinach and quinoa. Despite this, the exact process of ecdysone synthesis and its function in plants are still not fully understood. Ongoing research is aimed at gaining a better understanding of ecdysone biosynthesis and its environmental function in plants.
