What we do

Our laboratory specializes in studying the complex chemistry of plants and their metabolites. We focus on the multifunctional enzymes that modify the structure of these molecules, such as through hydroxylations, oxidations, glycosylations, and acylations. Our goal is to deepen our understanding of these enzymes and their modes of action, particularly in relation to the vast diversity of triterpenoids. Through our research, we aim to unlock the potential of these natural products for biotechnological and agricultural applications.

Main research ideas

At this stage our main research ideas revolve around three main projects:

Ecdysone biosynthesis and function in plants

Exotic sugars - biosynthesis and use

Structural aspects of enzyme specificity

Tools used in the lab

molecular biology &
